About Marc Bard

Now in double overtime of a fulfilling career as a medical illustrator, practicing physician, author, health care executive, and national health care consultant, Marc Bard currently devotes his time to embracing the Squam Lake environs with his wife Carol and, whenever possible, his children and grandchildren. He enjoys studying watercolor painting and contributing to the success of local non-profit charitable organizations by donating all proceeds from his artwork to support their missions.

About Paintings for a Purpose

Paintings for a Purpose was initiated in 2021 as a collaboration between Marc Bard and Davida Cook, owner of Meredith Frame Shop, to raise funds for Meredith Food Pantry. The Frame Shop’s large picture windows enabled individuals to view and select the artwork in a safe, outdoor environment while maintaining Covid-era social distancing. In its first year the show raised just under three thousand dollars to support those suffering food insecurity during Covid. The following year generated even more funds to support the Food Pantry.

In 2023 the Frame Shop was rendered uninhabitable by water damage from a frozen pipe in an apartment above the shop and the art show was charitably hosted by Meredith Village Savings Bank and generously supported by Moulton Farm of Meredith, NH. Beneficiaries of the annual summer show have now included Meredith Food Pantry, Restoration Acres Farm, CASA of NH, End 68 Hours of Hunger in Wolfeboro, NH, Kingswood Youth Center, Meredith Public Library, Squam Lakes Association, and Squam Lakes Conservation Society. Beneficiaries selected for 2025 include Seacoast Repertory Theatre in Portsmouth, NH and Got Lunch! in Laconia, NH.

More recently, Paintings for a Purpose has expanded and today operates as a New Hampshire charitable nonprofit organization. Meredith Frame Shop, Meredith Village Savings Bank, and Moulton Farm serve as sponsors and all three organizations are represented on Paintings for a Purpose’s board of directors.

The organization’s purpose is to raise funds for the benefit of New Hampshire community members through the creation and sale of artwork. Its mission is to advance the well-being of community members by financially supporting organizations that provide beneficial resources and services to their community members.

Paintings for a purpose is proud to have the following Board of Directors:

Kay Lacasse, Bruce Falby, Cynthia Hemeon-Plessner, Davida Cook, Kim Godfrey Lovett, Marc Bard

Testimonials

The Kingswood Youth Center

Participation in Paintings for a Purpose provided invaluable support for the Kingswood Youth Center's enrichment programs.  KYC teens participated actively in the event and were inspired by Dr. Marc Bard's work.  Proceeds directly supported artistic and creative programs offered at KYC.  These programs include participation in local art contests, community art projects, and center-based arts and crafts activities.  One such activity was a trip to the Lakes Region Art Gallery, where several teens had work displayed.

Meredith Public Library

We at the Meredith Public Library had a wonderful experience working with Dr. Marc Bard and Paintings for a Purpose.  Dr. Bard generously shared his amazing paintings, talents, and time with us throughout our collaboration.  The funds that we raised were used for renovating our Teen Zone in the library, specifically going towards new shelving and furniture.  These changes allowed us to rearrange the room in a more inviting manner.  In addition to accommodating all the books that were in there previously, we now have additional open space that will be utilized to host teen programs in the room.

CASA New Hampshire

We are very grateful to Marc Bard and the generous proceeds from his initiative, Paintings for a Purpose, for supporting our advocacy work throughout the state on behalf of children experiencing neglect and abuse.

End 68 Hours of Hunger

The Wolfeboro Chapter serves preschool and elementary school age children in the towns of the Governor Wentworth School District. This past summer we were the fortunate recipients of a fundraiser created through Dr. Marc Bard’s Paintings for a Purpose and Meredith Village Savings Bank. The bank’s Wolfeboro office became a gallery of Dr. Bard’s artwork for the month of August, commencing with a highly attended opening event. As a result of Dr Bard’s efforts, not only did End 68 receive a generous donation to our program but we benefitted from the exposure and interest derived from the month-long art show. We appreciate all Dr. Bard has done for food-insufficient children in our community.

Restoration Acres Farm

I was lucky enough to be made a part of Paintings for a Purpose for 2024. We are incredibly thankful for everything Dr Bard has done to help our nonprofit but also several others over the years. Dr Bard treated us like we were part of his family: we had an incredible time getting to know him and being a part of this fundraiser. The fundraiser was done with such class and we had a lot of people very interested in his beautiful paintings. We are so incredibly thankful! Thanks to Dr Bard and his non-profit he raised money that helped us towards getting our teaching space set up so that we can start giving lessons to people that need to learn how to cook from scratch and reduce their home grocery bill.

Thank you, Dr Bard, for the generous donation to our nonprofit, Restoration Acres Farm.
